Portable Sand Blasting Machine – Efficient Abrasive Blasting Equipment for Industrial Applications

A portable sand blasting machine is a pressure-based sand blasting machine designed to clean, prepare, restore, and finish a wide range of industrial surfaces. Its movable construction allows operators to take the blasting equipment directly to the job site, making it particularly useful for large components, fixed structures, fabrication work, maintenance projects, and applications where transporting the workpiece is difficult.

A portable sand blasting machine is operated manually. The portable sand blaster is safe, with a high abundance of system delineation to be used with a wide range of abrasive media. Its functions include descaling, shot peening, Deburring, Deflashing, polishing, cleaning, and stress relieving. The sheet used to make the body of sand blasting machine should not be less than 6mm thickness. The sand blasting machine is tested in the hydraulic machine at 20 kg/cm2. The sheet of the portable sand blasting machine is made up of mild steel for the inner and outer surfaces. A mushroom valve is used for the vacuum pack after embedding the material or abrasive media. An NRV (non-return valve) is used to stop the backflow of air that passes through a filter. NRV is placed between the pressure gauge and the air filter regulator. The pressure required for the proper working of sand blasting machine is atleast 7kg, which is controlled by the user.

The portable sand blasting machine is designed for industrial surface preparation and can be used with a range of suitable abrasive media. The portable sand blasting machine specifies a 150kg-460 kg sand storage capacity, a 5-9.5 mm nozzle diameter, a 5-10 metre standard sand blasting hose, and a listed cleaning coverage of approximately 3-21 sq. m/hr.

Portable Sand Blasting Equipment

In portable sand blasting equipment, a filter regulator is used to pass dry and clean air to the sand blasting hopper at 80 PSI. A pinch valve is used to control the flow of blasting media, such as garnet abrasive sand, glass beads, copper slag, aluminum oxide, etc which are used for sand blasting. The pinch valve is connected to the mixing tube(how much quantity to mix is controlled by the user). The mixing tube has two holes; one for air to enter and one for abrasive media to enter. The abrasive hole is connected to the blasting hose, which is already connected to the nozzle holder, where a sand blasting nozzle of 95mm will lead off. In a pinch valve, a pinch valve rubber sleeve is used to protect it from further damage during the blasting process. A ball valve is used for air entering and for air releasing from the sand blasting hopper. The standard blast hose length is 10 meters, which can be extended according to the user's demand.

The total height of the portable sand blasting machine is 1611mm. The diameter of the machine body is 761mm. In a portable sand blasting machine, there is one main hole plate that is used for maintenance and cleaning the inner part of the portable sand blasting machine P7-1000. In the upper part of the machine, material is embedded for blasting, so there is counterfeit from which blasting media is separated from large particles; otherwise, large particles will block the nozzle.

How Does a Portable Sand Blasting Machine Work?

The operation of a portable sand blasting machine involves several important stages:

  • Loading the Abrasive : Suitable abrasive media is placed inside the machine through the designated filling opening. A screen helps prevent oversized particles from entering the system and blocking the nozzle.
  • Supplying Clean Compressed Air: A filter regulator helps supply dry and clean compressed air to the sand blasting hopper. Proper air quality is important for maintaining consistent blasting performance.
  • Pressurizing the Hopper: The pressure vessel is pressurized using compressed air. The system uses valves to manage airflow and maintain the required operating conditions.
  • Controlling Abrasive Flow: A pinch valve controls the quantity of abrasive entering the mixing section. This allows the operator to adjust abrasive flow according to the blasting requirement.
  • Mixing Air and Abrasive: The mixing tube combines compressed air with abrasive media before sending the mixture into the blasting hose.
  • Blasting Through the Nozzle: The abrasive-air mixture travels through the sand blasting hose and exits through the nozzle at high velocity. The resulting impact cleans or profiles the surface.
  • Exhausting the System: An exhaust or release valve is used to release pressure from the machine after blasting according to the appropriate operating procedure.

A portable sand blasting machine is of two types. One is remote controlled and the second is without a remote. It is divided into four categories:
